this is for christy ann
one exciting thing about having a kid is seeing them learn how to do different things... we look forward to evan's new tricks...
trick 1: flipping over (we have a video of this oh sometime ago when he was just barely 2 months old)... evan scared us into thinking that he is this super determined person who has uncanny strength and physical prowess... i think it's a fluke because he's now 9 months and he isn't crawling nor is he pulling to get up... he's either hampered by that ghetto booty or he's walking around the house looking for things to eat when we think he's sleeping
trick 2: standing on his own... yes, this he can do now. it's kinda funny though seeing how careful he is... i try to entice him to move around but he is always testing how far he can let go before settling back into his stance... he doesn't like feeling like he's about to fall... today he's showing signs of courage as he lets go of the table and holds on to me to keep his balance
paul's dad said that when paul was younger he was too afraid of many things... i think someone is taking after his dad
whoa how did he get up there
trick 3: chewing (without any teeth)... how does he do it? but he loves eating noodles and bits of meat or egg yolk or cheese
trick 4: signing "more"... can it be true? he's only done this a couple of times... once when paul was trying to feed him noodles which was so funny... he was signing more but in true evan fashion he's too lazy to put his hands together he just waves his arms halfway as a sign for more (you're supposed to put both hands together like this
anyway, he still doesn't do it consistently but it's so cool to know he's beginning to understand 1% of what we're trying to tell him ... 99% more to go
trick 5: saying "dada" to paul... again i don't know if this is for real because he only did it once but one time saying dada is more than zero times saying mama... score for paul
trick 6: holding his hands up for us to pick him up... this is just so precious
tricks he's learning: waving bye (we've been trying to learn this for a couple of months now)
tricks he's not interested in learning: crawling (if he can't reach something he'd much rather find something else to do... sigh)
in other news lack of sleep has put me on the "it's not necessary to card you bec you look like you're old enough" category
toodles from butternut (we call evan this sometimes) and ahjumah (old lady in korean)
